Flood risk

Using Environment Agency data we have mapped the properties with high risk of flooding from rivers, seas or surface water (flash flooding), both currently and in the future, to neighbourhood level. High risk means flooded at least once in 30 years.

We have also used social data to identify the neighbourhoods where there are high proportions of people less able to prepare in advance of flooding (e.g. low income, renters), respond when flooding happens (e.g. people with disabilities, elderly people) or recover after flooding (e.g. low-incomes, lack of insurance). These areas should be high priorities for flood protection.

More details, including on the methodology, are on our website.
